Terrace Manor I, Terrace Manor II and Oak Ridge in Brighton Apartments, Bessemer Public Housing Waiting List

This waiting list is for Public Housing rental housing assistance in Bessemer and Brighton, Alabama.

The Jefferson County Housing Authority (JCHA) last accepted Bessemer Public Housing waiting list applications for 3-Bedroom apartments at Terrace Manor I, Terrace Manor II and Oak Ridge in Brighton Apartments from January 16, 2024, until January 18, 2024. There is no notice when this waiting list will reopen.

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

1. Print the paper application.
2. Pick up the application from the Jefferson County Housing Authority.

Once the application was completed, applicants were required to call the JCHA and make an appointment to return the application. Applications were accepted at the JCHA (Bessemer Office).

This waiting list had the following preferences:

• Catastrophic Involuntary Displacement
• Applicants with an Adult member enrolled in an employment training program or currently working 30 hours per week or more.
• A person defined as elderly or disabled under the definition verified by the Social Security Administration.
• Special Circumstance Preferences: These preferences apply only to specific units:
  • Near-elderly families over other families for units designated for elderly/disabled (this preference only applies to designated properties)
  • For one bedroom/efficiency units; elderly, disabled families and displaced persons over single persons.

It was not known how applicants were placed on the waiting list.
